Check your vehicle's manual for specific maintenance timelines, but below we have included a guide to scheduled maintenance for most vehicles. 


Preventive maintenance means a lot of things, and many services should take place at certain mile markers.  Check out the charts below for some more specific mileage checks and services. Let's start with some of the maintenance you might be more familiar with and should be getting completed or checked on a more frequent basis.

Check Every 3 Months / 3,000 Miles

Now let's move on to some of the longer-term preventive maintenance checks and services. This is where you will see some more variance depending on your vehicle make, model, year, and how you use your vehicle.

Maintenance Before 30,000 Miles

  • Continue the ongoing maintenance above
  • Air Filter - closer to 15,000 miles if you're frequently in a dusty environment
  • Fuel Filter
  • Spark plugs - copper specifically

Maintenance Before 60,000 Miles

  • Replace Battery - 4-5 years
  • Brake Fluid - recommended from 20k-45k
  • Brake Pads / Shoes
  • Brake Rotors
  • Cooling System Flush
  • Transmission Fluid
  • Manual - between 30k-60k
  • Automatic - 30k+ - consult manual for specifics

Maintenance Before 90,000 Miles

  • Hoses - more frequent checks with age
  • Power Steering Fluid Flush - around 75K
  • Spark Plugs - newer vehicles iridium or titanium 
  • Timing Belt Check and Replace - after 75k
  • not timing chains which last longer

As stated above, these are recommended services around these mile markers, however, please consult the manual for your vehicle for specifics. Also, take into account how and where you drive as this will affect the vehicle wear and tear in different ways.
